With a wooden scavenge bed, you provide your chicken with a healthy and stimulating environment to process kitchen scraps and garden waste. A dust bath filled with fine sand allows chickens to rid themselves of excess skin oils, moisture, lice, fleas, and mites. No matter how you use this box, the result is physically and mentally healthy chickens!

On hard surfaces, use a drainage geotextile cut to size to keep the contents in the scavenge bed or dust bath while allowing excess rainwater to drain easily.
*On hard surfaces, the ground spikes are replaced with support stakes that are the same height as the scavenge bed & dust bath. Be sure to mention this when ordering so that the correct support stakes are included.
Tips
Place the scavenge bed on a flat surface in a sheltered area to ensure optimal protection and comfort for your chickens.
Hide grains or treats in the scavenge bed filled with leaves and sand. This will encourage your chickens to scavenge thoroughly to find their food.
If used as a dust bath, place it in a sunny area and regularly refill it with clean sand or wood ash. A layer of about 10 to 15 cm of dust is sufficient. Regularly remove dirt and droppings.
